Dermatology Services

Providing you with tools to maintain your pet’s hair, skin, nails, and fur.

Just like with us humans, the skin is the largest organ in the bodies of our dogs and cats. It's no wonder that issues with their skin, hair, fur and nails are some of the most common reasons why pets are taken to the veterinarian. Aside from affecting their looks and comfort, these problems can cause major health complications if left untreated. For this reason, we encourage owners to let us know right away if they see any worrying skin issues in their pets' skin. Don't hesitate to call us at 416-762-5558 to learn more about our dermatology services for pets.

What are symptoms of skin issues in dogs and cats?

Fortunately with dermatological health, many of the warning signs of illness are visible to the naked eye. Some symptoms to watch out for include the following:

  • Excess itching, scratching, licking, and biting at their own skin
  • Hair/fur loss and bald patches
  • Redness and rashes
  • Dandruff and dry patches
  • Growths
  • Lesions or scabs

How are a dog's or cat's skin problems treated?

There are a number of different therapies that our veterinarians can administer to treat your pet's skin problems. One or a combination of a few can be used:

  • Medicated shampoos and creams
  • Special diets to address allergies
  • Surgical cleanings and/or of abscesses/growths
  • Prescription medications (e.g. antibiotics, antifungals, antihistamines)
